What's your mission?
Ohio MEMS Association, Inc. is a statewide association manufacturing resource serving Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) product development efforts in Ohio. Ohio MEMS was formed as a public charitable educational and scientific effort to serve MEMS product commercialization and workforce development needs, addressing critical issues such as pre-production MEMS technology, business educational literature, marketing data, and investor awareness.

Workforce Development? Where are the jobs?
This falls under the category of "controversial, but true." Indeed one must subscribe to many of the fundamental tenents of long-term economic development to understand the need. In short, it was a similar vision of Texas, Michigan, New York, and Massachusetts that now places them in the Small Times Media list of MEMS hot-spots in this country.

Is a multi-user packaging facility financially viable?
Absolutely. But, there are issues surrounding, for instance, standardization and process control that need to be addressed.

Multi-user facilities have been tried before and many fail. What makes you different?
Our leadership board has the experience to understand exactly the commercialization concerns and are best prepared to structure a center that serves the energing, entreprenurial MEMS industry in Ohio.

Is membership expensive?
Not at all. Ohio MEMS is not membership based and there is no membership fee.

How do you support yourself, then?
As a public charitable organization, we receive grants and donations in suport of our projects. We do have a Friends of MEMS campaign underway to support the MEMS Packaging Institute and the MEMS Technology Training Program - both of which fulfill the non-profit mission of serving educational activities for the general public.
